FORWARD
This photo essay is the end result of our two week vacation to the United Kingdom. We took a one week on a guided tour of England, Scotland, and Wales and then spent a week traveling on our own in England. At the outset, we really didnt intend to do a photo story. Though while touring, some threads of a story line began to appear and we started to shoot with a more photojournalistic intent.
As the second largest industry in the U.K., tourism is very big business. With so much depending on the success of tourism, much attention is given to providing some attractive places to visit, providing many opportunities for travel photography. We stuck pretty much to well traveled tourist destinations (London, Edinburgh, Bath, Chester, Llangollen, York, Salisbury, Stamford, Cambridge, Stratford, Grasmere, Leeds), but also visited a few destinations a little bit off the beaten path (Ely, Huntingdon).
Many thanks to Graham and Julie, as well as all our tour guides, for providing much insightful background information for the story line.
